Originating in Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow, where we supplied the West of Scotland’s heavy industry, we have changed with the times and our customer base is now life science, health care, pharmaceutical production and food analysis.

Scott McQuilkin

Scott has been with the business now for 20 years and his challenge at first was to understand the company from inside and out.

He focused on how we as a company handle every aspect, from our vast range of product to manufacturing process. From Goods in, Deliveries through to Project Management and AutoCAD and Account Management and finance, he has worked in all departments in each of the companies, understanding what we do and how we give the best possible customer experience. Scott plays a vital role in maintaining customer and employee relationships which are so important to the future of our business. He enjoys family, rugby, skiing and trekking and takes great enjoyment from seeing the teams and businesses develop.

Alan Hunter

Starting with McQuilkin way back in 1996 Alan has been key in the growth and development of the company over the past 25 years.

Initially he started in the stores where he gained his product knowledge and then progressed to the Warehouse Manager, and is now our Purchasing Manager. Here his priority is to maintain first class supplier relationships and in turn ensure that McQuilkin customers are given the best possible customer service available. He’s a big sports fan and loves to go watching football most weekends, often this determines his mood on a Monday morning.

Jordan started with McQuilkin in 2016, and has worked in Sales since leaving Strathclyde University with a joint honour degree in Biochemistry and Immunology.

He’s our specialist in Life Science consumables, including PCR/ELISA’s. He has great experience working with the NHS and knows pipettes and pipette calibration extremely well. When not in work Jordan spends his time in the gym and is also a keen traveller listing his latest accomplishment as visiting Japan and climbing Mt Fuji.

Andrew Stewart

With 13 years experience of working in the construction industry Drew joined us in the middle of 2018.

His expertise is in managing Health & Safety for operatives. This included ascertaining the correct PPE & RPE requirements for the hazardous materials being used on sites, COSHH assessments on products and Facefit testing to operatives as well, as setting procedures in place for storage and handling of hazardous materials, and managing waste disposal. He is a keen photographer and enjoys partaking in martial arts.

Hugh Lennox

Ever since he was little, Hugh wanted to fix things, so finding Engineering solutions seemed the perfect career.

He has worked for large multinationals providing support for Universities and hospital Laboratories requiring Service, Repairs and Calibration, with a wealth of hard and software expertise, Hugh is the latest addition to McQuilkin’s engineering team, where he co-ordinates our Service and Calibration Operations. Hugh helps the Scientific Community to troubleshoot software and hardware issues in Laboratory and Scientific Equipment to give you confidence your equipment is fully operational and operating within expected tolerances. In his spare time he’s an avid reader of Sci-fi / fantasy books and Service manuals, and enjoys taking his dog on long walks.

Katie joined us straight from school and has now been with us for approaching 6 years.

She looks after our customers quotes, enquiries and orders and generally makes sure that everything runs smoothly in the office. To add to her skills Katie is studying Business Management in her spare time, yet still finds room to teach spin classes in the gym and look after her wonderful pet collection that includes a part-saluki, a part-yorkie, and a pair of lovebirds

Nicole Slade

Nicole is the latest addition to our customer services team and has already completed two courses in Digital Marketing and Digital Applications

She will now be taking on more responsibilities for marketing within the group. This new website is only the beginning! On top of this and any other customer service duties, Nicole specialises in the Service department, arranging quotes and ensuring jobs are completed. Another fan of the gym here and she also loves shopping and going on holiday.
